Changes to Pre assigned seat process prior to departure
ex London Heathrow only

Effective immediately, pre assigned seats in the Economy cabin will be released back into the seat map 13 hours prior to departure on all London Heathrow departing flights.

This means that passengers with pre assigned seats, who have not checked in 13 hours prior to departure will lose their pre assigned seat.

When pre assigning seats for passengers at the time of booking, it is essential that all passengers are advised that their seats are not guaranteed and that they should check in online 24 hours prior to departure to secure their seat numbers. Please note seats remain subject to any operational aircraft changes.

In the event that a passenger checks in online less than 13 hours prior to departure, and finds that their seats have been released, please advise them to select suitable seats that are available at the Online Check In stage.

Passengers that have been unable to use Online Check In will have seats allocated when they arrive at the airport.

Exceptions

The following passenger types will not have their seats released:

•

•

Premium Economy

•

•

VS to introduce new baggage policy – it is as easy as 123

VIRGIN Atlantic has announced its new baggage policy – “making it as easy as 123 for travellers.”

Effective 25 November 2009, the airline will introduce a ‘piece system’ across its network for all tickets booked after that date.

The changes for passengers to remember are”

Economy 1 – passengers can check-in one bag weighing up to 23kg
Premium Economy 2 – passengers can check-in two bags each weighing up to 23kg
Upper Class 3 – passengers can check-in up to three bags each weighing up to 23kg

Virgin Atlantic will also continue to offer a generous sporting bag allowance, enabling all passengers to check-in one additional bag weighing up to 23kg that contains sporting equipment, such as a golf bag, scuba diving equipment, or ski equipment. Virgin Atlantic is the only UK long-haul airline enabling passengers to check-in surfboards.

In addition, Flying Club Gold Card holders are entitled to take one additional bag on top of their free allowance, in any cabin. If travelling in Upper Class, this means Gold Card passengers can check-in up to four bags.

Passengers wanting to check-in extra bags will pay for each piece, with each extra bag for ÂŁ32 if paid for online. Higher charges will apply at airport check-in.

“Passengers can now benefit from one of the simplest and most generous baggage policies in the industry. It means lower charges for passengers wishing to take additional bags and a great allowance for those going on a sporting trip,” said Chris Birch, Head of Product, Virgin Atlantic

Economy passengers travelling between Heathrow and Nairobi, and Heathrow and Lagos, will continue to be able to check-in two bags if travelling in economy.

Any passenger holding a ticket booked and ticketed before November 25 will be entitled to Virgin Atlantic’s existing baggage allowance. Any bags weighing over 32kg will not be accepted

Please note that these regulations can change without prior notice thus we suggest you check the policy at time of ticketing
