CHANGES TO BRITISH AIRWAYS EXTRA BAG CHARGES 

From 3 May 2011, the charges for extra bags, in addition to the free cabin allowance for checked bags, are planned to increase. 

This is to align our pricing with American Airlines and Iberia.  

The new charges will apply to all routes on the British Airways network. 

The new British Airways charges are summarised in the table below:

Everyone can choose a seat FREE of charge at check-in, from 24 hours before departure,Alternatively you can book and pay for your preferred seat once you have paid for your ticket and if more than 25 hours prior to departure.

 Pricing starts from GBP 10, GBP12 & GBP 15 per seat per flight

How to book your seat in advance

Once you have booked your flight, you can choose or purchase your seat on ba.com.

You cannot pay to choose your seat if:

• your flight is not operated by British Airways
• you are travelling on a flight operated by BA CityFlyer, a British Airways franchisee, codeshare or alliance airline partner
• your booking has not been ticketed, e.g. if you're travelling on a cruise or packaged holiday and have not yet received confirmation of your ticket numbers from your agent

Please note:

• If your flight is operated by British Airways but has been made through another airline then you may be able to choose your seat. This is dependent on the airline you have booked with.
• No free or paid seating is available on ba.com between 25 to 24 hours before departure due to operational reasons. At 24 hours before departure online check-on opens and free seating will then be available.
• If you are travelling from the Middle East, from 24 hrs before departure, you can now only buy your exit row or bulkhead seat at the airport.

• Certain corporate deals have access to seat choice for free. Please refer to your corporate travel agent for more information.
• Prices quoted are correct as at 9 February 2010 and are subject to change. This fee will be converted from GBP into local currency where applicable.
• For operational reasons, we might not always be able to accommodate your seat request when you make your booking, even if you are entitled to select a seat free of charge. If this happens, you will be given your seat number at the airport.
